Made shortly before Daniel Schmid’s death, Flimmerndes Flims feels like a gentle and personal reflection on his home village. The traditional spa town of Flims, which attracted numerous artists and filmmakers throughout the 20th century, becomes the starting point for a layered meditation on memory and cinema.

The film combines personal recollections, historical material and reflections on the history of film, creating a poetic portrait of a place where cultural and social change is deeply inscribed. Like many of Schmid’s late works, it revolves around memory, transience and the power of images – without ever becoming sentimental.
